Mud & Mischief

Now here's an idea for the Bradway meeting one day

Butter

I think the kids would absolutely love this - especially if we bring in some bread or crackers for them to eat their creations on.

I remember doing this at school when I was about 9 - it was arm achingly tiring (it turned into a bit of a "who can shake fastest" competition) but great fun, and the tasty result is a bonus!

Yup, we've done it a few times at home, and we've also done it two years running at our HE group. It's great fun! I'd really recommend using double or whipping cream though and not single, you'd be there forever otherwise. Well, you're there shaking it forever anyhow, but...*L* The liquid in the jars is buttermilk btw. We haven't ever salted ours either, it tastes pretty good as it is. I've found that a tilting from side to side action works better than shaking the jar, and it's more energy efficient!

Forgot to say, be very areful with the lids. One of the HE kids at our group was shaking it when the lid flew off...not a pretty mess!

Shame I just recycled a pile of old jars - shall I start saving them again?
