Complaint address

I've had quite a bit of feedback about that advert, so for those who'd like to know, or even those who are just curious, this is the address for the Advertising Standards Agency. Just click on the big red button at the top of the page to start complaining! :)

Also, any suggestions on how to beat the principles of simple addition, ie, adding two single numbers together, the total of which is always 10 or less, into a stubborn 6 year old head would be gratefully received!

Knitting!

10 stitches in a row. Get her to keep checking how many she has by counting up.

Worked ever so well for Big ;)

Letting her work it out by physically counting with beads/counters/smarties? No, actually, smarties works better for subtraction ;-)
Get her to draw x number of flowers, then x more, then count them all together? Emily did a weird slapping head thing for a while - if it was, say, 6+3, she'd slap her forehead whilst loudly shouting 6 (to get six into her head....) and then hold up three fingers and count on from six until she ran out of fingers. Didn't work without the slapping head, apparently. Counting on on a number line?
Perhaps myf does actually know how to do it, but just doesn't feel like demonstrating it. We had a lot of that too. Infuriating, but you've gotta admire their spirit and deviousness!!

I'm also attempting to help R, my 5 year old, to grasp the concept of simple addition.
We've used a number line, a 100 square, and some of his toys to count on with.

I drew pairs of trees in a orchard and said that R had to draw 8 apples on each pair of trees. So if one tree had 5 apples, he'd count on and draw 3 on the other. Then 6 and 2, etc.
He seemed to enjoy this and I think he got the hang of it. How much actually sunk in and stayed there, I'm not yet sure, but I guess it's just perseverance and practice.
Though it can be frustrating at the time.
